Task No.4 - Reading Task… (29/1/07)

Burglar beat alarm in less than 30 sec

This article is interesting to me. The alarming part that interests me is that the Cisco alarm system is actually easy to tamper with. Within a window of time – 30 seconds, the perpetrator is able to stop the sensors from alarming Cisco. This makes me wonder in the reliability of some of the alarm systems. Not to say that there is no perfect way things work, but the “unreliable” Cisco alarm system actually took away more than $1 million worth antiques from the shop. We also can conclude that the burglar may be an insider of either the Cisco Company or the antique shop. Thus, I personally think that everyone who works with or in Cisco or the antique shop can be a suspect, making the suspecting range wider. This amazing deduction will not prevent from other heists to happen as everyone has to continue their work in the company Cisco and the antique shop. This incident wakes us up from the idea of full security system and to depend on ourselves rather than others. Trust is another important factor in the society as the looks can be very deceiving. It is hard to find a person who is actually trustworthy in every aspects and has integrity in his moral character to be thriving in this business world. I want to end with a sentence, “The real society is cruel and harsh.”
